inthinc Wins Best of State Award for Driving Safety System

SALT LAKE CITY - June 2, 2009 - inthinc (www.inthinc.com), a developer and manufacturer of technologies to improve driving safety, was named as the winner of the Best of State Award in the Hardware/Firmware section of the Science & Technology category.

The company was honored for its inthinc driving safety system, which is engineered to dramatically change driver behavior to save lives. Its three core applications are designed to meet the needs of industrial fleets, light fleets and teen drivers.

"It is an honor to add this prestigious award to the list of accolades for the inthinc Driving Safety System," said Todd Follmer, CEO of inthinc. "We are committed to delivering world-class solutions, and this award serves as a validation for the tremendous effort put forth by our engineers and developers to bring to market a solution that has been proven to help save lives."

This award comes in the wake of a landmark study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) that utilized technology from inthinc. The IIHS report entitled "In-vehicle Monitoring and the Driving Behavior of Teenagers," concludes that "equipping the cars teens drive with in-vehicle monitoring devices can help reduce [driving] risks by giving feedback about driving behavior to both teenagers and their parents." inthinc has the only solution that meets all the criteria outlined by the IIHS for the technology to be most effective.

The Best of State Awards were created in 2003 to recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in Utah. Best of State candidates are evaluated by a panel of 100 judges based on three criteria: achievement in the field of endeavor; innovation or creativity in approaches, techniques, methods or processes; and contribution to improving the quality of life in Utah.
